Exclusive Interview with Entrepreneur Raynard Wilson About Raynard Wilson: I started my journey by joining the military when I was 19. I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, including 1 tour in Iraq in 2007. During that time I had a friend that constantly spoke to me about business until it peaked my interest. I began reading more about it and looking up successful individuals and learning their stories. After my contract ended I decided to leave the military to pursue my passion for music. I moved to Orlando Florida and attended Full Sail University for Recording Arts/Audio Engineering. After graduating I moved to Virginia to work an internship at a prestigious studio in Richmond. Around this same time I was approached by an indie label and was offered a distribution deal as an artist in 2012. While working on my album I noticed that it was very difficult to find beats that I wanted for my project and the ones that I did find were way too expensive for my budget. This sparked me to start producing for myself. During this process I feel in love with producing and I started to focus on that a lot more than I did writing and recording songs. This eventually consumed me to the point where I wanted to solely be a producer. In 2013 I decided to go back to school for my Masters degree. A little older and more mature I finally decided to pursue the business route. After finishing my MBA program at Keller Graduate School of Management, I went on to work in the field of contracts and acquisitions. This move helped me learn a lot about governmental purchases and the process thereof. In 2016, I decided to put my experiences together and I created a company focusing on Audio and other forms multimedia. We won a government contract that year to provide audio transcripts for Virginia Commissions of Workers Compensation. This was an incredible learning experience for me. It was tons of ups and downs throughout the contract. I learned how difficult business was at the core. The things that no one talks about, and because of that I’m stronger today. We held that contract for 2 years it ended on a good note earlier this year. Since then I’ve started working on another business venture which is providing residential group home services for individuals with mental and/or intellectual disabilities. Outside of the business I’m working with various artists as a producer and I’m really excited for what’s to come. http://instagram.com/ray_wilo Remember...KEEP GRINDING!!
