Kemah Palms Recovery is an adult substance abuse facility located southeast of Houston, Tx. We offer all levels of care, including a full medical detox, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and peer support. We treat all types of substance abuse, including but not limited to alcohol abuse, heroin addiction, cocaine addiction, methamphetamine addiction, opiate addiction, and prescription abuse.
We have an addictionologist, psychiatrist, and master level clinicians. Kemah Palms Recovery treats the whole person with a holistic approach offering EMDR, equine therapy, yoga, and 12-step. We use an evidence-based curriculum so that clients are getting the treatment and education they need to overcome their addiction.
Kemah Palms Recovery specializes in the abstinence-based treatment of chronic pain. We use various modalities, including massage therapy, chiropractic services, acupuncture, and aqua therapy.
In Dr. Shoaib's presentation, he gives a breakdown of how COVID-19 is affecting each individual. He discusses how the uncertainty of this pandemic is creating anxieties. Quarantine, one of our responses to this disaster, created social isolation, which can also increase drinking or using tendencies in someone who suffers from substance abuse disorder.
Dr. Shoaib does a specific breakdown of how the pandemic affects single individuals, the elderly, families, children, teenagers, people with known mental illness, and even our frontline workers. He goes over how to deal with the stress of COVID-19 and how to stay optimistic.
In this presentation, the importance of physical distancing but not social distancing is discussed. The doctor goes over opportunities to remain connected while physically separated, including fun ideas for you and your family.
