'The shocking context of the white supremacist terror attack in Christchurch cannot be seen in isolation from the ideological strands that get woven into the anti-migrant, anti-Muslim narrative that was primarily triggered by the publication of Samuel Huntington’s book, “Clash of Civilizations”. Huntington falsely proposed the major clashes of the world would occur due to the threat for the West from Islam and China. This phony theory obfuscated the realities of unequal power, the deep divisions between rich and poor, atheistic nihilism , it’s war against religion and morality and it’s social Darwinian lie of the survival of the fittest. Most importantly, 'religious illiteracy’ and 'cultural ignorance' about the ‘other’ lie at the root of all ‘clashes of ignorance’.
