Knooz Room is a bilingual media project that taps into undocumented knowledge about the Middle East through insightful oral narratives. It is a rhythmic mixture of story-telling and news reporting, where sound and interactive coding capture movement, thought, verve, scenery and smell. A typical KR episode tackles a theme, or a Big Idea, which is broken down into several segments, each harnessing personal story-telling, research, archival audio, music and ambience, to flesh out a distinctive approach to the Idea. Knooz or ???? means treasure in Arabic. One must dig deeper to find the proverbial treasure trove as they must for truth. It's a reflection the way we work at Knooz Room: we seek the small gems or gold nuggets of the region as a way of extracting the pulse of our subjects.
