Classes begin Monday, March 13th, 2017
Volunteer to teach Learning Laguna to 2nd-4th grade students in the classroom and during field trips to the Laguna de Santa Rosa, a Wetland of International Importance right here in Sonoma County!
Becoming a docent is a fun and enriching way to make new friends and contribute to the community! The 10-week course includes presentations, hands-on learning with the Learning Laguna classroom and field activities, and field trips to Laguna sites. Plus, trainees will shadow docents working in the classroom and field to help put all the course learning into context. After training you will work with teams of docents teach spring and fall to inspire children throughout the watershed to learn more and care about their home environment. All the while helping teachers meet curriculum standards!
Experts in biology, hydrology, natural history, cultural history and environmental education train Learning Laguna Docent volunteers in 10 lively classes beginning March 13, 2017. Each training class includes presentations, discussion, and hands-on practice with the Learning Laguna activities, plus a field trip to special Laguna locations.
Classes are Mondays from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, beginning March 13th, 2017.

Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00-5:30pm
Monday, February 27 from 10:00-11:30pm
Cost:
Docent training costs $145, which includes a 200+ page training manual, materials, speakers and all field trips. Partial scholarships are available.
