Today, we're going to talk about how to have challenging conversations. These conversations can be with your partner, your children, your coworkers, or even a client. And the majority of us weren't really taught or given examples of how to navigate them in a way that can truly achieve the intended objective. With that said, we're going to concentrate on a few key lessons for challenging talks today because doing so can actually exacerbate a pattern or problem with a child or with your marriage. And it will keep you in a loop that never seems to end, spinning around and around and around.

“People won't feel safe when they express something to you. And your immediate response back to them is your defense, or your argument back or your thing back, people feel safe with you. When they say something, and instead of you giving a response back, you just show them that you're there to hear them.”

  • When people feel heard and seen you typically defuse any emotions that are underneath
  • What we all want to hear is “I’m sorry”
  • When we feel seen, heard, and safe, we want to be those things for them
  • Give what you want to receive
