The podcast format allows you to tell your story, complete with a setting, plot, and characters.

If you think of your podcast as a story, you have a starting point, from which you can make a case study come alive for your audience. Begin by visualizing interaction with a virtual audience to deliver content that becomes real and accessible to listeners.

  1. Picture a setting and faces of actual people in your life who’d like to hear your story.
  2. Determine a core, unifying message for your podcast episode.
  3. The core message, the 3-5 supportive sentences, and the ending, that is, the conclusion or outcome should be mutually reinforcing.
  4. Do it in a linear fashion, point-by-point, for a self-contained podcast episode.
  5. Now bring in the characters.
  6. Offer take-aways that listeners can put into action.
  7. Narrate your story using plain English.
  8. Use descriptive language to draw your visuals, or include actual visuals in your podcast notes.
  9. End on a strong note. Make a solid statement about your conclusions.
  10. Treat your conclusion as not necessarily an ending, but as a beginning…

Invite your listeners to help you start a new story...

Provide comments and suggestions for future podcasts, as well as ideas for guests. If you consider yourself a life sciences thought leader, please step into the spotlight—or should I say up to the microphone!

Perhaps you’d like to give podcasting a try and have a guest interview.

Respond by Friday, March 9th. We'll create an MP3 file that you can distribute to your own network!
