On this special episode of Life with Josh and Amir, the duo sit down to speak with Indria Gillespie. She has been involved in a lot of start up businesses and works in government contracting. Currently she works in with the department of defense as a sub contractor. Most notably though, Indria is a two time bone marrow donor and founder and president of Angels in Disguise, an international research driven educational nonprofit. She completed her dissertation research on—and is very passionate about—advocating for Black, Hispanic, and Native American, minorities' under representation on the bone marrow registry. "Blacks have the lowest bone marrow recipient match rates..." Every year, many die if they do not find a match for a bone marrow transplant. In this episode Josh, Amir, and Indria dig into why that is. They explore what causes someone to need a transplant, the processes for donation, they talk out reach, diversity, education, as well as cures for diseases, and dig deeper into what's going on and why giving bone marrow is such an important, impactful, and life changing event.
