The Red Sox opened up their 6-game road trip with an 11-6 win over the Texas Rangers Friday night in the series opener in Arlington, Texas. With the win, the Red Sox have won back-to-back games for the 1st time since the All-Star Break. Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela and Rafael Devers hit home runs and Kutter Crawford worked into the 6th and ended up notching his 7th win.

----- Quick Responses #1: Wilyer Abreu turned on 1 in the 2nd and hammered a 2-run Home Run to give the Sox their 1st lead of the night at 2-1. It was Abreu's 10th of the season, and all 10 have come off of right-hand pitchers.

----- Quick Response #2: After the Rangers hit 2 solo Home Runs to go up a run in the 3rd, the Red Sox came right back and took the lead back in the 4th Inning. Connor Wong knocked the tying run with an RBI Single. Wilyer Abreu collected the 4th straight hit to open the inning and his RBI single gave the Sox a 4-3 lead. The new guy, Nick Sogard making his MLB debut (More Below) knocked in 2 more runs with his 1st Big League hit to make it 6-3.

----- Kutter's Night in Arlington: Kutter Crawford had 3 1-2-3 innings and retired 8 in a row at 1 point Friday night. Crawford also gave up 4 Home Runs in his outing, 3 with no one on base, and 2 to Corey Seager. He's allowed 12 Home Runs over his last 3 outings and 26 on the season---20 of the 26 including 3 of the 4 allowed Friday night, have come with no one on base. #50's Final Line: 5.1 IP. 6 Hits. 5 Runs. 5 ER. 1 Walk. 5 Strikeouts. 4 Home Runs allowed.

----- The Pen- Lucas Sims worked an 1.1 scoreless in his 2nd outing with the Red Sox. Luis Garcia got the 9th and retired the side 1-2-3 in his Red Sox debut.

----- Hit Streak Continues: Rafael Devers extended his hit streak to 9 in a row with a Double in the 4th inning. Devers homered in the 9th to extend the Sox lead. Devers has 12 extra-base hits and 7 multi-hit games during his current streak.

----- The Red Sox are 5-8 since the All-Star Break.

----- MLB Debut: Sogard was added to the 40-man roster and added to the active roster Wednesday. Sogard was acquired in a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays in February of 2021. He's the 6th player this season to make his Major League Debut with the Red Sox. Sogard played primarily SS at Triple-A Worchester but also saw time at all 4 infield positions and on the corners in the outfield. Nick is the cousin of former Big League player, Eric Sogard. Tom Caron on NESN spoke with Sogard's 1st at-bat and shared that Nick's mom is the sister of Dave and Steve Sax. Both played in in the Majors and Dave was with the Red Sox in 1986 and 1987.
