Hey there Wonderlings, I'm your host Angela Bowen and welcome to a weekend edition of Looking Back On My Wonder Years A Wonder Years. Today I’ll be reviewing S2E16: Whose Woods Are These which aired on May 9, 1989. This is the last episode of Season 2 since I already covered S2E17 How I’m Spending My Summer Vacation during my June 21st 3 Episode Summer Special which you can find on Itunes or Soundcloud. In this episode Kevin, Winnie & Paul band together to save their childhood playground of Harper's Woods from becoming a shopping mall. The only problem is no one seems to care. Time for my Flower Power Episode Rating: I’m giving it 5 out of 5 Flower Power Petals 1. For activism the kids had their heart in the right place fighting for Harper’s Woods. 2. Showing the kids as children playing in the woods. 3. A call back to the pilot episode where Kevin and Winnie shared their first kiss. 4. Kevin, Winnie, and Paul working together. This is the first episode where the kids are shown as friends hanging out together. 5. The end shot of them playing hide and seek as the song in my life plays and then seeing their initials in the cement. My Wonderling Words of Wisdom: It’s good to have something a cause to fight for. Activism is important. I know that saving Harper’s Woods was a lost cause for them and they later realized it, but it was a place they loved and they didn’t want to see it die. At least they got to have a moment there one last time to feel young again and Harper’s Woods was their playground one last time. My line of the show: Maybe every human soul deals with loss and grief in its own way. Some curse the darkness. Some play hide and seek. That night Paul and Winnie and I found something we almost lost. We found our spirit. The spirit of children. The bond of memory. And the next day they tore down Harper’s Woods. I want to give a sincere thank to all you listeners out there whether you listen to this podcast on Itunes or Soundcloud or any other listening platforms that you may use to hear this podcast. I love giving you the episode recaps of The Wonder Years every week joining me as I go into full detail as we reminisce of days gone by with Kevin and his friends Paul and Winnie, and the rest of the Arnold family. as well as giving my occasional running commentary and childhood stories. To stay connected to the podcast: you can visit my many social media sites: Facebook Page: at Looking Back on my Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast Instagram: lbomwonderyearspodcast Twitter: wonderyearspod Also if you enjoy this podcast rate, review and subscribe so you won’t miss an episode. Tells your friends. I will be taking a month long break in September and start Season 3 in October beginning with Season 3 Episode 3 Wayne on Wheels which aired on October 24, 1989 and focuses on Wayne finally gets his driver's license, but doesn't sit well with his new job of driving Kevin and Paul around. I’ll probably be doubling up on the episodes so I can finish Season 3 before December and take that month off and release the 3 Christmas episodes that month. I have two themed Wonder Years episodes coming out. September 4 is Labor Day so I’ll be reviewing Season 4 Episode 1 Growing Up with aired on September 19, 1990. And also September 5 I’m doing a Back to School Special with 3 back to school episodes Season 3 Episode 2 Math Class which aired on October 10, 1989. Then we have Season 4 Episode 2 Ninth Grade Man which aired on September 26, 1990. And the final of the three Season 5 Episode 2 Day One which aired on October 9, 1991. All right Wonderlings, have a great week!
