During Paul's penning of 2 Corinthians, he was in great personal tribulation, no rest for his flesh, troubled on every side, external fightings, as well as internal fears. In the midst of that severe affliction, God gave Paul comfort from at least two sources: he sent him a dear friend to minister to him in his need, and he sent him by the hand of Titus a great report of God's blessings in the Corinth church. We are thankful for friends such as Titus who comfort us in this world, but we are very thankful as well for the comfort we receive from good tidings of God's blessings in his church abroad.
