"By your patient endurance, you will gain your souls." Luke 21:19

Testing your faith is like weightlifting. First, you start with a smaller weight, do reps to build strength, and eventually progress to lifting heavier weights. With each increase in weight, you become stronger and more perseverant. That's why perseverance is an important part of any journey through life, and how we handle the tests of our faith can often determine where that journey takes us. As such, it is essential to understand why and how our faith is tested and what perseverance looks like when it comes to our spiritual lives.

Testing our faith is an act of grace from God that allows us to deepen our relationship with Him and grow in understanding His will for us. A test reveals weaknesses and strengths, both spiritually and personally, providing opportunities for growth and development. This process allows us to learn from our mistakes so that we can make better decisions as we advance. Perseverance helps us stay on course no matter what obstacles or difficulties may come along the way. Without perseverance, we would easily give up when faced with difficult tasks or problems.

James 1:2-3 says, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and patience to succeed in any given endeavor; these qualities come from perseverance. Perseverance allows us to keep our goals in sight and stay motivated even when things don't go as planned. It helps us overcome procrastination, fear of failure, self-doubt, and other mental blocks that can impede our progress toward success. Without it, we would be unable to push through the tough times or develop the skills needed to achieve our goals.

Therefore, "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:4). Tough times at times gives us an opportunity for us to grow in our faith. And even though we may not understand what's happening in our lives, we can trust that God is good and has a good plan for us. I find these verses encouraging when I'm going through a difficult time. And it should be a reminder for anyone going through that difficult time that God is with you, that He has a good plan for you, and that you can persevere through anything with His help. Amen. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Amen.

Let us pray,

Lord, grant me the strength to endure this season of trials and tribulations.

May the Lord work out His good purpose in your life in Jesus' name. Amen.
