Berlin-based DJ/producer Markus Binapfl A.K.A. Big World needs little introduction; having been involved in the global music scene for more than a decade, he has an impressive string of successes to his name. He has worked with artists like Erick Morillo, Kurd Maverick, Boris Dlugosch, Inusa Dawuda and long time producer companion Denis The Menace, with whom he created anthems like Going Back To My Roots (Subliminal), Fired Up (Nero), The First Rebirth (Axtone), Show Me A Reason (Vibrate!) among numerous remixes. Markus is currently finishing his release Alive with Erick Morillo, and will remix the other big heavyweight in Housemusic, Roger Sanchez right after. Dreamer is a release, planned on Ministry of Sound, he is collaborating with Kurd Maverick and Miami-based long time friend Armand Pena. Further collaborations with Dabruck and Klein and remixes for Tocadisco, Denis The Menaces Bamboleo and Grum are in the making for summer 2010. Earlier this year, Markus released already Quadrillion, Moguai remixed this one and Gadzo, both topping the beatport charts and getting chartings and supports from Axwell, Bob Sinclar, Steve Angello, Ingrosso, SHM, Eric Prydz, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Tom Stephan, The Scumfrog, Boris, Bad Boy Billa.s.o. Currently out and in the charts are Sunshine In Your Heart (Time) and Musik (Subliminal) and the remixes of Sense of Life (Suka) and Dance Now (Skilled). He first hit the big time as a producer in mainstream pop music and has more than 200 releases, including a number of gold and platinum hits under his belt. These days, Markus has left the world of pop behind and concentrates his talents on house music. His first single under his alter ego name Big World, Morning Light (2001) became a massive club hit, heralding the start of a new and exciting chapter in his musical career. Markuss countless releases to date have hit the charts worldwide; notable successes include Fuerza reaching number 3 in the Beatport charts in 2006 and the re-release of Morning Light in 2007 not only charting at number 7 on Beatport but also hitting the number 1 spot at DJTunes. Among BWorlds dance chart-topping tracks, youll find releases on first-class labels such as Defected, Axtone, Time, Ultra, Nervous, Serial, 3 Beat, AATW, WePlay, Sony, Superstar, Universal, Ministry of Sound, and Subliminal to name but a few. Markuss touring as a DJ has taken him around the globe, with appearances in Europe, Russia, South America and the US; in 2008, Markus was booked for the Ministry of Sound tour in Germany and got invited to play the Subliminal Nights at Pacha/Ibiza, and again returning this year. Until recently, he was co-owner and resident at Hamburgs celebrated Halo club - a venue which has played host to some big names like Angello, Timo Maas, Eric Prydz, M.A.N.D.Y., Loco Dice among many others. Of his renowned DJ sets, Markus comments, No matter what you do on stage or what your instrument is, the interaction with the crowd is the most important thing when playing live. Its a give and take thing and when the energy starts to flow and the audience becomes one with the playing artist, then you know why you are doing this. Markus started his music career as a drummer, playing in Rockbands in L.A. at the infamous Sunset Strip Clubs. Now he uses these skills and takes an electronic percussion pad onto stage while djing and playing live to his sets. Convinced by this artistry, Markus now got his own night at Frankfurts leading House club Velvet starting later 2010. Markus also teamed up with the Berlin based event agency Butterfly Effect, which events he will headline and build up a record label to sign great talents. By the end of 2010, Butterfly Effect will host shows all over Europe.
