CNN and other news outlets were blocked on Friday from attending an off-camera White House press briefing that other reporters were hand-picked to attend, raising alarm among media organizations and First Amendment watchdogs. Former journalists Wendell Potter and Maureen Langan talk about Trump's relationship to the press and the state of Journalism today. @wendellpotter also talks about his new project: Tarbell - an independent, nonprofit, digital newsroom.

Wendell Potter - I certainly tried when I was a reporter - and I’m sure you did too - to be as truthful and factual as we possibly can be. We’re not seeing that in a lot of these so-called media organizations these days. That’s what is so troubling. I really worry about the future of media in the near future. Although, I will say, there has been such push-back and concern by a lot of people about what Trump and his associates are doing that there has been a lot of support: New subscriptions for the New York Times; a lot of money has been donated to organizations like mine - like Tarbell - and to the Center for Public Integrity. This makes sure that these organizations get the financial resources they need to keep an eye on the bad actors in our society and in business.

Maureen - I have to tell you, to see the demise of journalism is very upsetting to me.
