Though the winner seems like a certainty, we do love a bunch of these movies, and it’s a fun ranking episode to be sure. There’s also some fascinating narratives to indulge and perhaps some of the most intriguing personalities we’ve had to analyze in awhile. If you told us a few years ago that we’d get Yorgos friggin’ Lanthimos, Adam funnyman McKay, AND Spike “Critic No 1 of the Academy” Lee in the same set of nominations with two foreign filmmakers who directed black & white foreign language passion projects about their parents!?, we’d have never believed you. So it’s another fun & loaded episode for you all. We still have one more category overview episode to close out this series, and you’ll get two categories for the price of one as we’ll dissect both the Adapted & Original Screenplays this week.
