***This is a Spoiler Free Episode*** It’s our 2017-18 Best Supporting Actor Overview, and we try and somehow succeed at avoiding all spoilers. We have a new Twitter handle @MMandOscar - 2:06 WHY HE’LL WIN/WHY HE’LL LOSE THE 2017/18 BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR OSCAR: William Dafoe - 7:08 Woody Harrelson - 14:55 Richard Jenkins - 20:40 Christopher Plummer - 25:06 Sam Rockwell - 31:12 Perfecting Perfection - 38:50 Final Thoughts - 44:30 Here’s our overview of this year’s Best Supporting Actor nominations. The format of the Category Overview pod is surprisingly simple. We make the case for and against each of the 5 nominees. Then we rank them. Some of our arguments could be construed as legitimate film appreciation or criticism. The rest of it, well, let’s just say we don’t hold back. There are hair-brained theories, mental gymnastics, irrational biases, child-like observations, and an endless supply of all the over-caffeinated and outrageous sentiment you crave. We discuss the contours of Willem Dafoe’s iconic face, we root for the day when the weirdness of Woody Harrelson may deliver a speech in primetime, we compare Richard Jenkins to a Teddy Bear, we praise Christopher Plummer for who he is and who is he not, and we debate whether or not frontrunner Sam Rockwell can hold his lead for the remainder of our Oscar Sprint. Do please follow us on our new Twitter handle. It’s @MMandOscar . We’ll be LIVE Tweeting all the big movie events, and we love chatting with other fans and film buffs on all forms of social media. So yes, do jump into the fray. We’re also on Instagram, reddit, and gmail. A few clicks, a like, follow, iTunes subscription or review can always help us spread the word about our show, and we both love the attention and require your scrutiny. The Black Panther movie event is a week away, and we’ll cover it both on social media and in audio format. Until then, do enjoy these Category Overview pods as we’ll cover the Best Original Screenplay, the four acting, Best Director and Picture 5s and 9. Then we’ll close out the season with our end of the year Best Of podcasts, where we’ll predict the winners, declare our own favorites on the Mike MIke And Oscars, and of course, we’ll review the big show at the beginning of March. Do catch up on our previous episodes. We review each of the nominees in our Oscar Sprint Profile series, and there are retrospectives, Summer Blockbuster, Hollywood News, Netflix, and Movie Event Pods to cover the rest of the film world throughout our catalog. It’s easy to avoid spoilers, and we hope it’s a fun on demand experience for ya. As always, thank you. We’re having a blast doing this,, and we have a bunch more fun in store for you year round. When reality sucks, do watch movies with us. We’re Mike, Mike, and Oscar!
