Rhonda Eleish and Edie van Breems of Eleish van Breems, are known for imparting their inviting aesthetic into homes ranging from rustic back country retreats to larger estate properties and city apartments. To achieve each client’s vision they work with the finest artisans, builders and workrooms on both sides of the Atlantic and are known for their expertise in the layering of textures and soothing use of colors. The designers are totally focused on creating spaces that are highly livable and that are always personal and inspiring to their clients.. Their company, Eleish van Breems, was started as a fine antiques gallery in Woodbury, CT in 1997. Set in a historic 1760 house and garden, the store was a compelling example of a Scandinavian lifestyle on display. Rhonda and Edie's fresh take on Gustavian formal and country Swedish folk antiques mixed with the latest accessories from Scandinavia quickly became a go to resource, with an international following. Interiors and a line of historically based Swedish furniture soon followed for the two childhood friends. Today, Rhonda and Edie have moved their storefront to Westport, CT where design work has taken center stage and their mission is to, where ever possible, introduce a clean, elegant, and fresh approach to interiors, all with a Scandinavian essence. They are are the authors of three best selling Scandinavian interior design books: Swedish Interiors (2006, Gibbs Smith ), Swedish Country Interiors (2009, Gibbs Smith) and Reflections on Swedish Interiors (2013, Gibbs Smith). The work of Eleish van Breems has been featured in fine publications such as House and Garden, House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Veranda, Glamour, Country Living, Gods and Goddars, Departures, Travel & Leisure, Connecticut Cottages and Gardens, The New York Times as well as appearing on Martha Stewart Living, This Old House and HGTV Canada. Most recently, Eleish van Breems was featured in Carl Dellatore's Interior Design Master Class - 100 Lessons from America's Finest Designers on the Art of Decoration (Rizzoli, 2016).
