Barb’s Hip!

Today’s episode, I’m chatting with the wonderful and engaging Barbara Marquardt. Barbara is actually one of the Moderators and main contributors in Steve Ozanich’s TMS – The Mindbody Syndrome group on Facebook, and months ago, she shared bits and pieces of her own pain recovery journey. One day, she shared with the group her hip X-ray – she had severe sciatica, back pain, spondylolisthesis, numb feet and tingling down her leg and when doctors would look at her imaging they would ask questions like “oh my god, how are you even walking?”… but she is now totally out of pain (and, more importantly, out of fear!), even though her hips and back still look the same underneath, which is such a testament to the fact that physical abnormalities do NOT necessitate pain. Our structures all look different underneath and aren’t even close to the only explanation for our pain symptoms. Barb continues to work on herself by cultivating self-compassion and self-love, and she goes into why those two attitudes were so important in her recovery. Her story is inspirational and powerful and so relate-able when you get to know the stories of so many chronic pain sufferers. So if you’re feeling alone in your journey, you are not. Listen on to hear Barb’s story and keep going if you’re in the midst of your own journey right now.

She mentions her visits with Dr. Paul Gwodz, who was instrumental to her healing – if you’re in the New Jersey area, please go check him out.

We also mention Nicole Sachs’ work again – and her upcoming seminar on June 16th, 2018, tickets for which can be purchased HERE.

Please remember to subscribe and leave a review on iTunes if you’re able! Thanks so much for tuning in!
