21 Years: A Folded Flag
Richard Fitts Jr. a Gold Star Son from Abington MA, lost his Green Beret father, Richard Fitts Sr, in 1968.He was on a on a secret mission in Laos, when Jr. was only 2 years old. It took 7 years to have him confirmed KIA, and even longer to have closure and see him laid to rest at home, and Arlington. Richard Jr. is now researching his father, his service, and the mission that killed him, in an effort to get to the know his namesake, and document his families legacy. This research, led to creating a documentary, with producer Rudy Childs. I invited both of them to the studio, to sit down, and talk about the project, Richard Fitts Sr. and what it is like to grow up with such a mystery surrounding the passing of your father. This isn't just a Gold Star family story, and it isn't just a military story. It's a story about anyone trying to get to know their own father, and trying to find out who they are, and where they come from.
