Whilk & Misky -Burn With Me – Single (2015)

This is defiantly a song I am not sure what to call as far as the genre is concerned. It has the sounds of a heavy folk rock song with the punches that accompany this. Reminds me of the image of a man walking through a burning building with the intention to do something violent to everything and everyone around him. The constant crackling, and vocals repeating “burn with me” used as a staple in the song, and a slide guitar in the background, thick with anger and is defiantly a warning to any offenders. Like a creeping power reminiscent of fire, it defiantly does have appropriate vocals and lyrics. With some acoustic and electronic aspects this song is defiantly memorable.

Jedi Mind Tricks – Deathless Light – Single (2015)

Its always difficult for me to get into most rap songs, same with most electronic songs, it seems that with the two there is little community in the ideas. In a band environment you have those points that make for fault and relative perfection. In electronic you have someone attempting to absolutely perfect a single individual’s vision, not necessarily saying that there is an issue with this but there is some special magic in coming through all of the shit of a beginning song into a merger of visions. Rant aside, Jedi Mind Tricks has a way of making their sound as raw and flawed as the next garage band. This project is a creation of two people who have been in the game for a while and they have made gritty and hardened music their forte. Overdriven rap, the best way to state what this song is. almost every aspect of this song is turned up so loud that it seems like it might be too much for the little three minute song, this is most defiantly a good thing. This song has clout and attitude. This video is no joke as well.

The Moth & The Flame – Young and Unafraid

I heard about this song originally on Reddit when someone was asking for advice about someone stealing their song and not crediting the original band. I haven’t heard much form them but they seem a little reminiscent of The Bravery. This band is a reminder that trends in music never really fade and might even circle back around. The Video is also extremely well, you should check it out.

Mandolin Orange – Little Works – Such Jubilee (2015)

A classic bluegrass troupe always cheers me up a bit. Emotionally, I’m not sure what attracts me to this type of music. It is possible it reminds me of my grandfather on my mother’s side. He used to play in a band “No Strings Attached” and was a hell of a musician. His band won an award here in Texas for a best work at one point. Since then my grandpa quit playing music for the most part. He said he wasn’t going to go back last i spoke.
Joy WIlliams – Until The Levee – Single (2015)

This one was for a buddy of mine, Kayla i hope you see this. You might recognize this voice in this bass heavy melodically song. This is Joy WIlliams, the female vocals from the since defunct duo The Civil Wars. This is her first single since the breakup. Not sure why they broke up seeing as The Civil Wars was a great and talented act. Until the Levee has a heavy bass and a couple drops after it lifts out of the muck. It doesn’t change much thought the progression of the song but what it does, it does well.
