In July of this year, Luke Atkins stepped through a door 25,000 feet in the air over the New Mexico desert without a parachute. He fell all the way to the ground and landed in a net so small he couldn’t see it from where he started, and he walked away without any injuries.

He’s the latest in a new generation of daredevils who are harnessing new technologies to push the limits of human thrill-seeking and exploration.

Whether it’s the lone crazies that use squirrel suits to glide through mountain ranges at a hundred miles an hour, or people like Atkins with their top-notch support teams, or astronauts and test pilots who risk their lives to prove the soundness of entire armies of engineers, these explorers push the boundaries of what’s possible for humanity.

And we need that, especially in this most acrimonious of political seasons.

So, in the spirit of exuberance and exploration (and in honor of all the men and women who put their lives on the line in the name of fun, daring, and grand adventure) I’m curating a selection of Extreme Science Fiction for storybundle.com.

These ten books are chock-full of tales from veterans and up-and-comers from all corners of the vast science fictional universe.

We’ve got genre giants and such as Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Kevin J. Anderson, Mike Resnick, and Dean Wesley Smith, who between them have produced more bestsellers and won more awards than I can shake a Saturn V rocket at.

Romantic suspense legend ML Buchman is along for the ride too, making a special foray into science fiction with a boatload of fun that only he could provide.

Joining them are up-and-comers Blaze Ward, JR Murdock, and me, bringing in extra doses of high-energy adventure to keep things hopping, along with an anthology of sixteen other high-risk stories by authors like Marvel comics legend Lee Allred, urban fantasy maven Anthea Sharp, and master of the bizarre Robert T. Jeschonek.

Here’s how it works:
For three weeks only, from September 14 through October 6, you can get five or ten DRM-free ebooks (your choice) ready for loading on any e-reading device you like. You decide what you want to pay. After that, this bundle will disappear forever.

The initial titles in the Extreme Sci-Fi Bundle (minimum $5 to purchase) are:

The Me and Elsie Chronicles by M. L. Buchman
Climbing Olympus by Kevin J. Anderson
Orphan – Giant Robot Planetary Competition: Book 1 by J.R. Murdock
Suave Rob’s Double-X Derring-Do by J. Daniel Sawyer
Star Fall by Dean Wesley Smith

If you pay more than the bonus price of just $15, you get all five of the regular titles, plus five more:

Away Games by Mike Resnick
Extremes by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
Hadrian’s Flight by J. Daniel Sawyer
Risk Takers by Fiction River
Fairchild by Blaze Ward

We’ve got a classics, best-sellers, and four brand new books written especially for this bundle celebrating the human spirit. Inside, you’ll find dark tales of murder and intrigue, high-comic farce, young adult adventure, awe and wonder, rapture and redemption.

Looking for a way to spend the ever-lengthening autumn evenings? Join me now among the stars. If you want something to remind you of the limitless potentials of the human spirit during a time when so much of our world is looking inward and feeling small, grab it now. Even better, if you have a friend, a child, or a parent who needs a good, solid dose of adrenaline, StoryBundle allows you to give the bundle, and time the delivery to birthdays or other special occasions.

Come on over and take a gander. It won’t last long, and you don’t want to miss these visions of our limitless future!
