Jeremiah 1:5

Some thought provoking slides about what we think about the child in the womb.

Pronounced dead when heart stops why not pronounced alive when heart starts

Animals wanting to save human babies

Supreme Court can’t find right to life by found right for gay marriage

Pro-life from the womb – I feel uncomfortable when I has I held Adriana the first 12 days of her life.

First 12 days out of the womb, her life began 9 months earlier.

Jesus an unplanned pregnancy – from Mary’s view not God’s – Jesus was planned before the creation of the world.

Pro-Life news

Infanticide is legal in the Netherlands and has been practiced for years. Infanticide is letting a baby who is born alive die or kill the child with a lethal injection. This happens after a botched abortion or if the child is the wrong sex or if the child has any deformities. Back in the 1980’s President Regan stopped the practice of infanticide in America but Dr’s in their own wisdom continued to allow live babies to die. So, in 2002, The Born-Alive Infants Protection Act was made into law. We have a long history or murdering babies in America. You would think we have gotten wiser from the time when a Roman father rejected his new born and the child was taken out and left in the elements to die or be eaten. Society has not changed much in 2000 years.

There is a growing push to make infanticide legal in America. Listen to the argument.

“The United States should allow the use of infanticide in the case of infants with severe medical complications. This policy should be adopted because euthanizing infants in some scenarios can be a valid moral option since certain infants can be born with absolutely terrible life prospects. …Additionally, there are strong grounds that can justify infanticide in a broader context since infants are not rational and self-conscious agents. Because infants cannot hold a conscious desire to continue living – and have never held a conscious desire to continue living – they can’t be given the same rights as persons. Therefore, painlessly killing an infant cannot be wrong in the same way that killing a person is wrong.”

Another writes, “Likewise, the mere fact that infants are humans – in the biological sense – cannot function as a feature that gives them some sort of elevated moral status. Peter Singer, Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, put it this way, ‘the fact that a being is a human being, in the sense of a member of the species Homo sapiens, is not relevant to the wrongness of killing it; it is, rather, characteristics like rationality, autonomy, and self-consciousness that make a difference. Infants lack these characteristics. Killing them, therefore, cannot be equated with killing normal human beings, or any other self-conscious beings.’”

On the positive front – Ohio / Federally

The Ohio legislators passed “The Unborn Heartbeat Protection Act” (such laws have been passed in 2 other states also). It was approved by the Senate 21-10 and then passed the House 56-39.

“A person who intends to perform an abortion on a pregnant woman shall determine if there is the presence of a fetal heartbeat of the unborn human individual that the pregnant woman is carrying according to standard medical practice,”

Of course, Ohio Gov. John Kasich who claims to be pro-life vetoed Heartbeat Bill.

Better news for the child in the womb in all of America happened last week. Iowa Rep. Steve King introduced a bill to prohibit abortions when a pre-born baby’s heartbeat can be detected as federal law. Babies’ hearts begin to beat as early as 21 days after fertilization. The Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017 (H.R. 490) mandates that abortionists check for a fetal heartbeat before committing abortions. They may not commit an abortion if a fetal heartbeat is detected.

  1. Life is Sacred

Life is sacred from the very first heartbeat, 21 days from conception. Life is sacred from the moment of conception. Why do I think Life is Sacred? Because God thinks life in the womb is sacred.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”

God not only knew Jeremiah in the womb but He knew each of us in the womb just like He knows us now. We are the apple of God’s eye because He created us in His image.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

God made a covenant with Noah after the flood.

Genesis 9:5 … And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. 6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.

Life is precious, life is sacred to God and should be to us. Our society understands that life is precious. Some think we live in a culture of death; but think with me for a moment; we are a very Pro-Life society

  1. We have the Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter crowds

They are all promoting life, they want lives to be saved.

  1. Don’t text and drive – save a life
  2. Organ donation – save a life
  3. Suicide Prevention – save a life
  4. Death penalty – 19 states have banned the death penalty, a trend over the last decade (misguided)
  5. Gun control – to save a life (misguided)
  6. Animal rights – save the life of an animal – misguided when they care more about an animal than a child as we saw last year at the Cincinnati Zoo.
  7. Abortion

But when it comes to abortion we are not a pro-life society – the majority of people are now according to polls but our laws do not reflect our beliefs.

God believes life is sacred and even we as Americans believe life is sacred unless you live in the womb.

  1. Life is sacred

The Mother’s life is sacred too. We who are pro-life are concerned about the mom and dad too.

Abortion kills the child but it also emotionally kills the mother and father. We need to let those who have aborted their babies know that God’s forgiveness is available to them also.

We are against abortion but we are not against the mothers and fathers who thought abortion was their only option. We are about protecting and helping both mother and child.

Listen to this letter from a mother

To my dearest Nathan, Today is the day that you should have been born. Although I think of you daily, today I have dedicated to you. I am sad that you are not here in person to celebrate but I know that you are here with me in spirit. I am so sorry for what I did. I was so confused and frightened and did not understand the consequences. I still do not have any justification for what I did. I didn’t know that you would be such a big part of my life. You came into my life, if only for a short time, and you have changed who I am. You have made me a better person and now I will be more prepared to welcome your future brothers and sisters. I am sorry that you couldn’t stay with us longer but you will always be a huge part of me and our family. Happy Birthday my darling boy.

Love always Mommy XOXO

III. Life is Sacred – Do something

In 2004 President George W. Bush said, “Because a caring society will value its weakest members, we must make a place for the unborn child. And I will continue to appoint federal judges who know the difference between personal opinion and the strict interpretation of the law.”

As caring Christians, we must value the weakest members in our society. The weak need our help.

Proverbs 3:26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. 27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. 28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow”– when you now have it with you.

What good are you doing? If you are not doing anything but believing you are pro-life are you really pro-life? At least put your money where your heart is.

What can you do?

Give money to organizations that are doing something.

Sidewalk counselor, pregnancy centers, foster, adopt

Make sure the elderly and disabled are cared for – visiting nursing homes, help the physically or mentally disabled.

Proverbs 31:8 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. 9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

We must speak up and make a difference to save the lives of others.

An elderly German man who lived through the Holocaust tells the following story.

“I always considered myself a Christian. I attended a church since I was a small boy. We had heard the stories of what was happening to the Jews but we tried to distance ourselves from the reality of what was really taking place. What could anyone do to stop it? “A railroad track ran behind our small church, and each Sunday morning we would hear the whistle from a distance and then the clacking of the wheels moving over the track. We became disturbed when one Sunday we heard cries coming from the train as it passed by We grimly realized that the train was carrying Jews. “Week after week that train whistle would blow. We would dread to hear the sound of those old wheels because we knew that the Jews would begin to cry out to us as they passed our church. It was so terribly disturbing! We could do nothing to help these poor people, yet their screams tormented us. We knew exactly at what time that whistle would blow, and we decided the only way to keep from being so disturbed by the cries was to start singing our hymns. If some of the screams reached our ears, we’d just sing a little louder until we could hear them no more.

“Years have passed, and no one talks about it much any more; but I still hear that train whistle in my sleep. I can still hear them crying out for help. God forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians, yet did nothing to intervene.”

Don’t have the same regret and need forgiveness because you did nothing to make a difference in the lives of the unborn who are being slaughter by the hundreds of thousands in a America and by the millions around the world.

Three thousand babies are killed on average every day in America. Everyday a 911 happens and very few react.

  1. Life is Sacred – treat others as they deserve.

Treat others as holy people created in the image of God. Treat others as God’s children.

To treat others as sacred, as holy, you need to understand that God is Holy and treat Him as He deserves.

Matthew 22:35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

You need to treat yourself and others as holy.

Matthew 22:39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

You must love self to love others. Start with yourself, then your spouse, then your children, your parents, extended family, neighbors, friends, strangers, and enemies.

Because all lives are sacred how should we treat one another?

Treat others with love and respect

Matthew 7:9 “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

If you are pro-life, if life is sacred then you must treat others who are created in the image of God as holy.

How can you start treat others better?

If you are pro-life then you are pro-Eternal life too. We just don’t want people to have life on earth we want them to have life eternal in Heaven. What are you doing to make sure others have eternal life?

Matthew 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus came to die for all of us – will you live for Him?

Do you want the promise of eternal life? Then come today and accept His free gift of grace.
