For AFL fans there's a void in season 2017, left by Matthew Pavlich, who retired after 17 years as one of the league's superstars.

But it's clear that Pavlich's stellar AFL career was just one chapter in his story. He's now pouring himself into business, where he's a director of PickStar and PMY Consulting while also studying an MBA ... along with corporate ambassador gigs, media roles, his Presidency of the AFL Players Association and life as a Dad.

We sit down with Pav for a candid, wide-ranging chat, where he shares his transition plan from AFL to "real life", the commercial world of sport, tips for businesses and marketers who want to work with athletes, and of course a few of the burning footy questions including how close he came to taking the big offers from rival AFL clubs during his career.
