This week, I’m talking to Giselle Wasfie. She’s a former hip hop journalist and current Chinese-medicine practitioner (acupuncturist-herbalist). She’s also the founder of the aromatherapy and beauty line REMIX by Giselle Wasfie. As I mentioned on the episode with Katrina Jane, this season I want to cover topics that sometimes have a little mystery surrounding them or lifestyles we think we know about…but might not fully understand. This is one of those episodes.

Giselle and I discuss Chinese Medicine (what it is, how it works, and why it’s still not widely accepted as “real” medicine), how she knew being a journalist wasn’t her career path in life, her advice on looking at past traumas in a new light, and her biggest (and easy) tip on how to deal with toxic people and negative interactions in our lives.

Chill-Day

{ Chill / DAY : Relaxation Therapy Recipe }
by Giselle Wasfie

In a spray bottle mix the following ingredients
with 2 ounces of distilled water:

20 drops of MAY CHANG
Uplifting and bright, helps keep the mood light.

10 drops of PETITGRAIN
Relieves stress.

+ 5 drops of YLANG YLANG
Sedates adrenaline and relaxes the nervous system.

Giselle’s notes: I like to spray it pre-meditation or I’ve sold bottles to yoga teachers who use it before class for “grounding” while keeping the energy “uplifted” and flowing. I also use it in the clinic a lot (in between patients) to keep the mood upbeat and positive. Avoid using during pregnancy and avoid getting product in eyes.
