Daniel Belquer knows the power of "what if". When he couples it with technology and storytelling, limits can vanish. Daniel is the CTO of Not Impossible Labs, a Southern California community of altruistic innovators. Their mission: to help the world, by helping one person at a time. They're accomplishing these goals by creating accessible technology--and content that inspires people to take action. Not Impossible Labs has now won two consecutive Interactive Innovation Awards at SXSW. In 2015, they won for "Project Daniel", with their 3D printed limbs for Sudanese amputees. Then, earlier this year, they won again--for "Don's Voice", a computer technology that enables ALS patients to speak again. Those are just two of some very exciting innovations that combine caring with ingenuity. "How can I not do something about this?" is a common theme among Not Impossible Labs' staffers. Daniel talked about the beginnings of Not Impossible Labs, how he became involved, and a project currently in the works, to make the music-listening experience accessible to everyone. On this edition of Over Coffee®, you'll hear: How a noted artist's illness led to the creation of Not Impossible Labs; How Not Impossible Labs' first invention, the "Eyewriter", gave graffiti artist Tempt One back his ability to paint; How Daniel came on board with Not Impossible Labs; How he had his "click" moment, as he used his specific talents to make a current innovation work; The reception this particular project received at SXSW, and what these responses told the Not Impossible team; An update on this current innovative project (hint: it's going to be showcased this summer!)
