Is Ashtanga for everyone? In Episode 48 we discuss getting lost on your yoga mat during this lovely spirit sister chat about yoga!

In this episode Shanna Small and I discuss the Yoga off the Mat and expand where the profession and practice of teaching students have been, is now and where we see it going for us on our path to enlightenment.

Shanna Small has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga and studying the Yoga Sutras since 2001. She has studied in Mysore with Sharath Jois and is the Director of AYS Charlotte, a school for Ashtanga in Charlotte NC. She has written for Yoga International and the Ashtanga Dispatch.

As a long-time yoga teacher and professional blogger in the Charlotte, NC community. Her blog, The Ashtanga Yoga Project is a space for those in and out of the Ashtanga yoga practice community to come together to chat on real-life school perspective.

In this episode, we get real on:

  • The look of most yoga students, classes and studio traffic
  • The path Shanna took from growing up in church to Down Dog on a yoga mat in India
  • How she found herself lost in her own yoga practice
  • Where service meet the business of living a modern-day sustainable life
  • What her story has given her perspective on and where she is being called next

To reach out to Shanna and learn more about the modern application of Ashtanga yoga off the mat or to attend one of her training or classes visit Her Blog or AYS Charlotte .

For information on workshops or to tell her about your yoga education needs, please e-mail Shanna directly at shanna@ashtangayogaproject.com.
