Jim Clem

Jim Clem, pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Bellingham Bells

Jim Clem graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1971 where he was a standout player on both the Hornets’ basketball and baseball teams. He ended up at Peninsula College by following a friend of his out to Port Angeles on an invitation to try out for the basketball team by Head coach Jack Estes. Peninsula was the only college he was offered to play basketball and baseball so he decided to stay. He stuck around for the 72/ 73 season and credits the people he played with as still being his best friends to this day as well as Coach Jack Estes as being one of the biggest influences on his life and coaching philosophy. He earned his Associates of Arts degree from Peninsula College in 1973 as well as serving as student body president. As a Pirate, Clem pitched and played the outfield for two seasons and named the teams’ captain and MVP. He went on to pitch at Central Washington University for two more seasons, winning the Evergreen Conference Championship in 1975 and qualifying for post-season play in both of his years as a Wildcat. While at CWU, he earned bachelors’ degrees in history, psychology, and education, graduating in 1976. He later earned his master’s degree in athletic administration at Central Washington University in 1993.

Jim is currently the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Bellingham Bells. He has been inducted into a number of halls of fame, including Washington State Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the Washington American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame, the Burlington-Edison High School Athletic Hall of Fame, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Hall of Fame, the Central Washington University Hall of Fame and the Peninsula College Hall of Fame.
