In September 2016, a British aristocrat’s daughter involved in the illegal drug trade in the Philippines was killed amid the government's controversial War on Drugs.

Many spectators have pointed toward the Philippine National Police. However, investigators suspect that her former boyfriend was behind the brutal slaying.

Maria Aurora Moynihan was a 45-year-old British-Filipina woman who was linked to selling illegal drugs. Three years ago, she posted bail after being arrested for the alleged possession

Aurora was the younger sister of local celebrity Maritoni Fernandez and the daughter of Antony Moynihan, a Baron in the United Kingdom's House of Lords.

While serving his prestigious title as the Liberal Whip, Baron Moynihan married his third wife and the mother of Aurora and Maritoni, Luz de la Rosa Fernández, in 1968. Luz was a former dancer in the Philippines and the niece of the country's ambassador to Cambodia.
