A sixth person in the UK has been arrested for burning an effigy of the Grenfell tower disaster on Guy Fawkes day over the weekend. The Grenfell tower burned down last year taking the lives of 72 people. In the video you can hear laughing and phrases such as “help me” and “stay in your flat” as they burned the replica with crude drawings of people hanging out of windows. As you can imagine the reaction to this has been sheer anger and disgust. The 6 people now claim their lives are in danger and they’ve received death threats from members of the public. They claim “it was just a bad joke that got out of hand.” Even though this is an incredibly insulting and insensitive “joke” does it warrant being arrested over it? Did an actual crime take place? Or maybe you think this is in such bad taste that they deserve to be arrested and possibly imprisoned?
