CRITIQUE:
I don’t know if you remember but i bought a FujiFilm x70 a few weeks ago, well here is a picture from a shoot i had last weekend using the camera, the settings are as follows:
ISO 200
1/250
f2.8
18.5mm
flash was on
QUESTIONS:
Paul Shew:
I am seeking advice on the potential benefits of upgrading my camera.
Current camera body: Nikon D5100
Considering an upgrade without going to full-frame
Under consideration: D5500, D5600, D7100, D7200 (looked at comparison on DP Review)
Primary photography subjects are Landscape, Nature, and Wildlife
Lenses Used:
Nikkor : 50 mm, f/1.8 G AF-S
Nikkor: 85mm, f/3.5 G DX VR ED Micro,
Sigma: 10-20mm, f/4-5.6 DC HSM ( no vibration reduction)
Tamron – 70-200mm, f/2.8 VC
Tamron – 16-300mm, f/3.5 – 6.3 Di II VC (newest addition and probably use this too much)
Primary areas of concern for improvement:
Focus
Ability to autofocus in low light and track moving wildlife
Would like to be able to do more hand-held work without motion blur
Noise reduction – presumably caused by:
low light conditions
cropping in significantly when editing
Faster Shutter speeds in low light
QUESTIONS:
ISO capability: Current camera has range from 100-6,400. Local camera shop says I should be able to go to 1,600 before having problems with noise. I’m not sure I can. Should I assume a camera with specs of 100-25,600 will make a significant difference in less noise at higher ISOs?
Focus Points: Current camera has 11 focus points. To help with focusing in low light or moving creatures, can I expect a significant improvement in focusing ability, accuracy and speed by jumping to 39 focus points? And significant difference between 39 and 51 focus points?
Shutter speed: What does it say about a camera if it can go up to 1/8,000 sec., versus my current camera at 1/4,000? Should I care given my goals?
