–The topic of the day is: America’s “healthcare solution,” and the “Business” of being sick.

How many people will get cancer, for example? Roughly half of all Americans.

How much money are people making off of being sick?

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) estimates that the direct medical costs (total of all health care costs) for cancer in the US in 2015 were $80.2 billion.

Are we “fighting for a cure?”

The National Cancer Institute has spent some $90 billion on research and treatment during that time, and yet the likelihood of dying from cancer is roughly the same as it was 40 years ago.

So how do we create change?

  • Individual choices
  • Innovation
  • We need to vote in leaders who have integrity.

What is the true “healthcare solution?” Taking care of your health Interview with Susan Levin, who is the director of nutrition education for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine or PCRM.
