Music intro: Den-Mate "For Free"

Now 10 years into his career, find out how this skateboarding kid fell in love with coffee sourcing and roasting. Starting out with a tiny 1-pound coffee roaster in his house, find out also how his enterprising spirit took the advice of a Starbucks founder and soon had him sourcing coffee from destinations around the world

But it also took an episode with the fire department that urged him to leave his little town house operation in the Trinidad neighborhood of DC to open a 2500 square foot facility in Hyattsville. Also now with a location in College Park, MD, Vigilante Coffee still has their Eastern Market stall on Sundays.

We talk all that entertaining stuff and along the way I ask him to dispel some coffee myths – debunking the top 3, and then I manage to slip in a question and ask him -- if I had a cooler name, if he would hire me. And then we end the interview with Chris setting me straight about how to make and drink espresso-based beverages. I’m not sure I took it well – so stay tuned for all of that… a very fun interview.
