The Education Department doesn't accredit colleges and universities. But, the importance of federal dollars can affect how accrediting organizations treat schools that teach everything from medicine to cosmetology. The Government Accountability Office reviewed the literature about accreditation and how it works. Kris Nguyen, GAO director for the strategic issues team, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin with some recommendations.
