Back on The Prepping Academy, Kyle is on to discuss reports of food shortages in the first hour. The news has been filled with hard facts and speculative rumors that by November millions of Americans will be going hungry. Following low productions of 2018, 2019 was a year of flooding. Enter 2020 and production and yields have been dismal. COVID19 exacerbated a growing issue, and most recently the “derecho” straight-line winds wiped out over 10 million acres. Early estimates are saying that 57 million bushels of grains have been lost in Iowa alone.
We are not alone in this though! Many African and Middle Eastern nations were also struck with misfortune this year due to COVID and locust swarms. The UN has been predicting a global food crisis for some time, but we’ve now moved from “crisis” to shortage. Forrest also points out events taking place across the country directly effecting food and distribution such as: train derailments, refinery exploding, and warehouses burning down.
Whether or not you believe in food shortages happening in November is entirely up to you, but from the apparent data it does seem possible. Kyle and Forrest discuss what you should be doing now to prepare, what types of food (canned, dried, or freeze-dried.
