Over Christmas Erica read The 5 Day Novel: an account of Scott King's successful attempt to create a novel from scratch all the way through to sending it to his editor, within 5 days. He wanted to see if it was possible to do something like that and it was, provided you already had a grasp of the craft. The speed in which he wrote his novel was the hook that first attracted Erica to read it, but it was what Scott said about author voice, pacing of the story and character that got him invited onto the podcast.
