Another world, another time - in the age of wonder... Beccy Henderson decided she would become a puppeteer. Beccy is the incredibly talented performer behind Deet in Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and also appeared in Pajanimals, That Puppet Game Show, and Wildwoods. She also appears as a human actor in another Netflix series, Derry Girls. We talk to Beccy about her journey from an early fan of creature movies like Gremlins, to a serendipitous invitation for a puppeteer workshop at Northern Ireland's Sesame Street co-production Sesame Tree, and eventually ending up as a main character in the Dark Crystal prequel series. Tune in for her unique insight into the rigors of performing such complex creatures, what it was like working with Henson-era performers like Kevin Clash and Louise Gold, and how her puppetry experiences have re-framed her work as an actor. Episode note: (correction) Beccy refers to overhead cameras used for Skeksis as "POV" or "Point of View cameras", they are actually known as "Witness Cams". Other body suit performers on Dark Crystal: AoR, however, did use POV cameras out the front of costumes for additional vision.
