On this week’s show, We are joined by Kramer Deans, owner of Afropreneurial Community, to discuss expectations and whether keeping them low or high is good for our sanity. In a Psychology Today article a study from University College of London indicates that the secret to happiness is low expectations. Author and neuroscientist Robb Rutledge says, “Happiness depends not on how well things are going but whether things are going better or worse than expected.”
We've all seen the IG posts that go a little something like this:
“The best way to avoid disappointment is not to expect anything from anyone”
While expectations are usually out of our control because they are a result of what we want from others or a situation, what we can control is our standards. Standards should never waiver or be compromised
based on level of expectation.
Kramer spoke with us about the vision behind Afropreneurial Community (AC). AC was created by the creators of Status:Melanated because there is a need for sustainable and supporting networking among Nashville's Black business owners. Afropreneurial Community wants to create opportunity and growth via collaborative networking. If you are interested in checking out AC for yourself, you can attend the next event on April 30th at 6PM at the Post East. This event is all about financing your dreams and how to find the appropriate finances for your dreams and business. You can follow Afropreneurial Community on the following social media platforms:
