#CollegeWhileBlack is a sub series that gives a voice to Black college students at Historically Black College & Universities during the Trump administration. This series gives these students a platform where they can discuss topics not only dealing with issues on their campus but issues across the country. October 8th, Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough invited American conservative commentator Candace Owens to Dillard University for their annual Brainfood discussion. Ms. Owens had several differing opinions on #MeToo, "talking white", "ghetto names", feminism, police violence, than the 300+ students who attended that. I selected a group of students that attended the Brainfood to discuss how they felt leaving this event. Some of them agreed with her comments and some did not. These opinions are their own and do not represent Dillard University or the organizations they're a part of. If you would like to like to watch the Dillard University Brain Food featuring Candace Owens, you can watch here https://www.facebook.com/fair.dillard/videos/2858627160830256/ This an interactive podcast where we love feedback so if you would like to submit questions or leave comments, download the Anchor app on your iPhone or Android device, search Reading While Black Podcast and select Voice Message. If you’re student at Dillard University and you’re interested in being on the next episode of College While Black or if you’re a student at another HBCU and you’re interested in us visiting your campus please email us at ReadingWhileBlackBC@gmail.com or you can DM us on our socials like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat @ReadingWhileBLK. Reading While Black’s mission above all else is to put books written Black authors in the hands of Black children that do not have access to them.
