Some stories don’t start with an old house—they start with the land itself.
Generations of one family grew up on the same Talbot County property, a patch of ground that had seen everything from hard work and laughter to pain and tragedy. For decades, the family whispered about strange things that happened in the back bedroom—the one nobody wanted to sleep in. But for one kid who grew up there, the haunting wasn’t confined to four walls.
It began the night he woke up unable to move. A shadow leaned close, breathing softly in his ear. A hooded shape with no face, no hands, just darkness—and it followed him from home to home for years. When he finally learned what “hags” were—dark spirits said to feed off fear—everything made sense.
Now, even as an adult, he still feels it watching sometimes. But he’s learned not to feed it, not to speak its name, and not to open his eyes.
Is it sleep paralysis—or something ancient that refuses to let go?
