Bloating and SIBO Solutions

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a condition where bacteria which are normally found in the large intestine have overgrown in the small intestine instead.

Normal small intestine = 103 bacteria per mL (Colon = 1011) SIBO small intestine = 105 bacteria per mL

These bacteria, which aren’t normally present in such quantities, ferment foods like sugars, galactans, fructans, and starches and produce gas, which causes distension. The gases produced are typically methane, which is more likely to slow motility and cause constipation, or hydrogen, which will more commonly produce diarrhea.

These bacteria can damage the microvilli of the intestine causing nutrient absorption issues, cause intestinal permeability (leaky gut), further damage the nervous system, and create systemic inflammation along with symptoms like bloating, brain fog, skin issues, and many more.

A SIBO Breath Test will tell you which type of gas your bacteria are producing, but the testing is controversial.

Clinical SIBO Presentation = BLOATING AFTER MEALS CONTAINING STARCH OR FIBER

The reason this podcast is so important is because many things which are typically great for gut health can be HORRIBLE for SIBO patients, such as:

Fiber = typically great Probiotics = typically great Fermented Foods = typically great Prebiotics = typically great Bone Broth = typically great

3-Legged Stool of SIBO Solutions:

  1. Bi-Phasic Diet Phase 1: Reduce and Repair (4-6 weeks) Starve off bacteria so they begin to die-off and repair the gut lining.

Phase 2: Remove and Restore (4-6 weeks) Remove remaining overgrown bacteria and fungi while restoring normal motility, acid production, and microbial balance. SIBO Bi-Phasic Diet Dr. Siebecker's SIBO Foods List SIBO supplements warning SIBO symptomatic relief

  1. Restore Gastric Motility by Strengthening the Vagus Nerve (Gut-Brain Connection) The following activities strengthen the gut-brain connection by stimulating the vagus nerve. They should be done regularly at the least, but the more often the better! Gargle - gargle aggressively until your eyes water Gag - stimulate your gag reflex Sing/Hum - vibrate the back of your throat Fast/Intermittent Fast - going longer between meals allows your Migrating Motor Complex to “sweep” through the digestive tract and make sure it is empty Diaphragmatic Breathing/Meditation - stimulates the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system, preparing the body for digestion and motility

  2. Take the Right Supplements Biocidin Olivirex Bactrex FungDX EnzymixPro HCL Interfase Plus EnteroVite (SCFA) BIND GI Detox ProFlora 4R Sibiotica RepairVite SE (glutamine, zinc)

These are SOME of the relevant SIBO products. In the podcast I discuss these different supplements and their intended purpose. This is where it’s important to work with someone to help you put the pieces of your health puzzle together!
