Come join the gang as Professor Kirk takes the class into the not os distant past to learn about the 80's and 90's dating scene in Dallas. FIRST THINGS FIRST, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN IS THE FUCKING MAN!!!! Mitch almost hits on a random woman in the work elevator, we start out with a few facts about the 80’s, lots of nostalgia for old technology, random 80’s karaoke brought to you by Mitch and Todd, all the member berries, no lie Dallas ruled the world in 1984, Starck club basically WAS the 80’s in Dallas, Todd doesn’t know his classic literature as well as you would think, Prince goes on a power trip in the club, Todd does the robot, but you can’t hear it, the sexual revolution was a little late to show up to Texas, a quick excerpt from Warriors of the Discotheque, let’s take a second to talk about rampant unbelievable drug use because XTC was actually legal at the time, just say maybe to drugs, don’t buy drugs from Mitch cuz they’re actually laxatives, seriously there were SO MUCH DRUGS in the Starck clubs, DRAG QUEEN ON FIRE!!! Dance police were such a buzz kill, the chief of dance police was who put baby in the corner, lot’s of random gay guys start dying for no damn reason, everyone thinks that gay cancer was a serious thing, the AIDS epidemic of the 80’s cannot be understated, unfortunately no one took it seriously until AIDS started affecting white straight people, the gang takes a new stance and starts giving social commentary, plug for Los Freakies podcast, the AIDS quilt gets the government moving, Todd goes to the bathroom and is super loud, technology starts taking off huge in the 90’s, voicemail dating starts up, you can’t have a dating podcast without referencing Tinder at least once, the beginnings of missed connections, modern contraceptive discussion, Lauren likes to break the rules when she’s left at home alone, SO MUCH 90’S NOSTALGIA, Fartknocker88, xXTheTodd69Xx, DragonGiraffe, PaintballDemon26, Sk8er Boi, Doc Martens, Mitch pulls a Henry Zabrowski, BOY BANDS OMG, Ice Ice Baby wasn’t supposed to be a huge hit, c’mon Barbie let’s go party, Google was still a baby, SURGE is back now! Mitch got no action on the old AOL chatrooms, but did get to talk a lot about WWF wrestling.
