The prevalence of misinformation about Covid 19 is much higher on social media than in traditional news sources. A group of Canadian researchers has found that people who consume a lot of social media end up believing conspiracy theories and misinformation, and as a result do not engage in safe behaviours that prevent the spread of COVID-19.
