LOST: The Sand and Sun
God is not DONE WITH YOU! He can and will still use you if you are
only willing.
A. THE SAND:
1. God is not interested in us faking any of this because HE KNOWS
US.
(Psalms 139:1-6) -
1You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
2. God is always WITH YOU.
(Psalms 139:7-16) -
7Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
13For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
3. God's good thoughts for you OUTNUMBER THE GRAINS OF SAND.
(Psalms 139:17-18) -
17How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.
B. THE SUN:
1. God SEPARATED the light from the darkness.
(Genesis 1:3-5) - 3And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was
light. 4God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light
from the darkness. 5God called the light “day,” and the darkness he
called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning – the
first day.
2. DARKNESS is very real.
(Ephesians 6:10-12) - 10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty
power. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand
against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities against the
powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms.
3. We light things up with GOD'S WORD.
(Psalms 119: 105) - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my
path.
4. The Word says Jesus is THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
(John 14:6) - Jesus answered, “I am the way the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through me.”
(John 1:3-5) - 3Through Him all things were made; without Him
nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life
was the light of all mankind. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness has not overcome it.
5. When Light hits the darkness, EVERYTHING BECOMES CLEAR.
