Mezzo-soprano Kayleigh Butcher is an adventurous vocalist who is exploring her own connection between singing and choreography in performance. Her Resonant Bodies set features three world premieres (Cara Haxo, Sivan Cohen-Elias, and Daniel Felsenfeld) and works with two choreographers (Katelyn Halpern and Miro Magloire), a piece for pvc pipe, and an unusual late work by Giacinto Scelsi. In this episode we talk about all of these exciting pieces, as well as her ensemble, Quince, a quartet of female voices that has commissioned and recorded dozens of new works.
