Kathy Collins writes and consults on literacy instruction in the elementary school grades. She presents at conferences, teaches at reading institutes, and works in schools and districts all over the world.
She has worked extensively with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University, and she taught first grade in Brooklyn, New York.
She is the author of Growing Readers and Reading for Real, both published by Stenhouse, and most recently, in 2015, she co-authored a book with Matt Glover, published by Heinemann, called I Am Reading: Nurturing Young Children s Meaning Making and Joyful Engagement with Any Book.
In this conversation, Kathy and I talk about collaboration between teachers: what it looks like, why it matters, how to assess when it s working well or needs a change, and how to improve collaboration in your teaching practice.
