Speaking on "Housing for all Australians, rich or poor, should be considered fundamental economic infrastructure for Australia. Just like roads, hospitals or schools". Robert is an engineer by background, having graduated with Honors from Monash University. He has been active in the property industry for over 30 years, most recently as General Manager of Frasers Property Australia (formally Australand). He also has a post graduate diploma in Property from RMIT and an MBA from Mt Eliza Management College. Over his career, Robert has always had a keen interest in the development of all housing types and in particular, a focus on housing affordability. Over his time with the company, he steered it into the social and affordable housing space with the redevelopment of two significant Victorian government housing estates. He believes that housing all Australians, rich or poor, not only satisfies a fundamental human, it also makes economic sense, as it will reduce long term costs in the areas of mental health, family violence, policing, justice, and long-term welfare dependency. He is currently the founding chair of Housing All Australians, on the Board of the Property Industry Foundation, Summer Housing Foundation (which is focused on disability housing), the Salvation Army Housing and the HIA in Victoria. Robert is also a past Board member of the Property Council of Australia, Residential Development Council, UDIA, Livable Housing Australia and the Heritage Council of Victoria.
