The Bible is usually our best source for what the Bible means–such as Jesus’ statement to “Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Looking around the New Testament we see that his words are less injunction than impartation: Jesus gives the ability to look like our Father and his with a new power for mercy and giving ourselves away.
