2014-11-20_0356For my podcast, Intersections Radio, I’m doing a series on South Asian comic/graphic/cartoon artists who use their talent and artwork for social justice. You can check out the first episode. This is the second episode in the series:

issue4Adil and Kamil Imtiaz are Pakistani American brothers located in New Jersey and California, who created the superhero comic, Buraaq. Buraaq is the superhero alter ego of Yusuf, a Muslim American “everyman” who transforms into the superhero Buraaq, who can manipulate magnetic forces around him.

Adil and Kamil were tired of seeing stereotyped Muslims in pop culture and set out to create a better role model for children and teenagers. What’s interesting is not just the positive response from conservative Muslim adults, but the positive response from outside the community as well.

This interview was featured for the April 20, 2016 episode of Intersections Radio. Check out the podcast!

Air date: 4/20/2016 https://sarikadmehta.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/buraaq_xray.mp3
