Researchers and archeologists have discovered a passageway connecting the two systems and together, they make up the largest known flooded cave, stretching more to 215 miles. The Great Maya Aquifer Project (GAM) took months of exploration before discovering the connection and inside it are priceless treasures. 1. Allen & Louise Ann Turpin On January 14, 2018, a 17-year old girl escaped from her Perris, California home and told police that she, along with her 12 other siblings, were being held captive. When officers arrived at the home of Allen and Louise Ann Turpin, they were shocked to find the rest of their 12 children chained and padlocked to various furniture pieces and their beds. The kids ranged in age from 2 to 29 years old years old. Some of them were so deeply malnourished it was hard for the officers to determine how old they really were as most looked much younger than their actual ages. In fact, they were stunned to find out that out of the 12 "children", 5 were actually adults. Everyday, we encounter scary and mysterious stories that many of us don't know what to make of. These are just a handful, but there's still so much more to discover.Support the show
