Survivor – S30E04&05 – Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner & Now We’re Playing Some Survivor

Spencer and Jamie spoke a little longer this week since there was a double episode of Survivor. They spent a lot of time unpacking what happended with Rodney and Lindsey and the drama with the Blue-Collar Tribe. They finish out by predicting that either Will or Shirin, will go home after next week’s immunity challenge.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner

We started off the episode with the aftermath of the No-Collar tribe’s decision to vote out of Nina. Will told the group he voted they way he did to stick with the alliance even though he knew he was on the bottom and would most likely go home if they lose the next immunity challenge.

Masaya Tribe (Blue Collar):

Rodney and Mike made-up this week and Rodney expressed his respect for Mike. He even said he is the kind of guy he would hang out with back home.

With the love growing between Mike and Rodney there he had direct his energy towards someone and that someonw was Lindsey. After the immunity challenge Rodney made some sexist remarks about women needing to hold themselves to a higher standard than men. This pissed Lindsay off and an argument ensued. It appeared that the Rodney’s mouth might have sealed his fate, but Dan’s patronizing behavior towards Lindsay left the audience questioning her place in the tribe as well.

Reward Challenge:

This was your classic blindfold challenge from past seasons. One tribe member stood in a tower and acted as a caller helping two other blindfolded and tied together tribe members navigate obstacles and collect objects that were then hoisted up to the caller. During this challenge Kelly has hit by the hoisting platform and the challenge was stopped while the medial staff attended to her. They okayed her to play and they carried on with the challenge. Carolyn and Joe were the best callers as the No-Collars won and the White-Collars came in second. Sierra wasn’t so great as the Blue-Collar tribe came in last and went back to camp with nothing.

Nagarote Tribe (No Collar):

Back at camo the No-Collar tribe was elated to finally have won another challenge. They won, a rooster, three chickens, and a dozen eggs. They promptly killed a chicken and boiled it up, even though Jenn, a vegetarian, protested saying they could keep the chickens around for the eggs they would lay. The rest of the tribe disagreed and wanted to eat chicken for Will’s birthday. Jenn took this as an opportunity to go looking for the hidden immunity idol, which proved fruitful. Not only did she find the idol she was so happy she said the phrase that became the title of the episode.

Immunity Challenge:

Each tribe-mate was tethered to a rope and one at a time, they had to navigate through a series of obstacles. Once all four tribe-mates completed the course, they grabbed a bag of balls, and used them to navigate a vertical maze. The first two tribes to that got all three balls to the top of the maze won immunity.

It was a tight race up until the end. The No-Collar tribe came in first and the White-Collar tribe came in second. It appeared that Rodney was going to win for the Blue-Collar tribe but he dropped one of his balls in the last-minute allowing Max to win for the White-Collars.

Tribal Council:

This was the Blue-Collar’s first trip to tribal council, but before we discuss what happened there let’s talk about what happened at camp. Sierra and Lindsay were campaigning hard for Rodney to go home and it seemed like he was the chosen one. Mike and Kelly at one point said that Rodney was whom they were voting for at tribal council. It appeared that he caused the most trouble over the past week and was causing tension in the tribe so it seemed like a no brainer. What the audience didn’t know was that there was an alliance between Rodney, Dan, Mike, and Kelly and they had planned to split votes as a way to flush out an idol. Once they knew there was no idol they voted out Lindsay. I guess they thought she was too opinionated. We know Rodney did at least.

Now We’re Playing Some Survivor

We started off with the Blue-Collars and Sierra demanding to know why her name had been written down twice. Mike explained that it was to flush out a possible idol and Dan said it was because of her performance in challenges.

Reward Challenge:

Before the reward challenge, the three tribes were redistributed into two tribes of seven: Blue Collars Dan, Mike, Rodney, and Sierra were joined by White Collars Joaquin and Tyler, and No Collar Joe to form the new Escameca tribe, while No Collars Hali, Jenn, and Will, White Collars Carolyn, Max, and Shirin, and Blue Collar Kelly became the new Nagarote tribe.

The challenge consisted of a member from each tribe launching a ball into the air while the other tribe members tried to catch them lacrosse style. The new Escameca tribe won commandingly. They took back to camp kitchen supplies and some sausages to cook up with those supplies.

Masaya Tribe:

Sierra tried to align with Jaoquin, Tyler, and Joe almost immediately telling them how poorly her tribe-mates treat her. When Mike and Dan got wind of the fact that she might do this they decided they needed to bring he back into the fold to keep up their numbers and stay safe. Mike tutored Dan on how to apologize to Sierra but Dan didn’t want his advice. Well it appears Dan should have listened to Mike because he messed up his apology by trying to get Sierra to admit to wrongdoing as well. This pushed her even more away from her old tribe and into the arms of her new tribe-mates.

Nagarote Tribe:

Over at Nagarote Shirin was getting on everyone nerves, especially Jenn’s. Max as viewed a selfish by Hali because he dipped his foot, with a wart on it, in their drinking water after a stingray had stung him twice. Shirin tried to court Kelly and get her to work with Max and her. This proved to not be very effective.

Immunity Challenge:

Two members from each tribe had to place pots on a sled and drag it through a series of obstacles, placing the pots on stands at the end of the course. Once all eight pots are in place, one tribe-mate would use a wrecking ball to smash the pots. The first tribe to smash all eight pots would win immunity.

It was obvious from the start which tribe was going to win this one. Escameca being full of men was just too big and too strong for Nagarote to win.

Tribal Council:

Before tribal council Carolyn told Jenn she would love to get rid of either Max or Shirin, solidifying Carolyn’s allegiance to her new tribe. Once Kelly heard about this she was in too. The only question was whom to send home first? At tribal council both Max and Shirin displayed some very strange behavior. Jenn made a point to call them out for their extreme knowledge of the game and it seemed like Shirin was going home. In the end Max was blindsided and sent home.
